SURGICAL VS NON SURGICAL

There is a lot of misunderstanding and misrepresentation about non-surgical hair replacement and hair loss treatments but the main question asked is what exactly are the diffrent techniques and treatments for male hair loss.

MALE HAIR LOSS – SURGICAL TRANSPLANTS

There are some common misconceptions between most cosmetic surgery procedures and hair transplant surgery. Hair Restoration Surgery does not solve all Hair Loss conditions. To be considered a good candidate for Surgical Hair Restoration, the client must have sufficient donor hair to be transplanted from one part of the head into areas experiencing Hair Loss.

Choosing Hair Restoration Surgery to treat your Hair Loss condition is a major decision and not one to be taken lightly. The precious few permanent hairs you have (which can be counted in the thousands and sometimes only the hundreds) can be lost by being incorrectly implanted or by removal due to incorrect placement. You need to be realistic as to what can be achieved.

It can be painful and takes a long time for results to emerge and is invariably expensive.  Side effects can include infection, coarse regrowth and, in most cases, only 80% of the transplants actually take to the scalp.

SURGICAL TRANSPLANTS THE PROS AND CONS

Wayne Rooney has become one of the first celebrities to have a hair transplant.  Other celebrities who have also gone under the knife to treat their hair loss include top chef Gordon Ramsay and actor James Nesbitt.

But are hair transplants really the best solution for Male Pattern Baldness, and are they affordable for non-celebrities? You are wise to first consider having non surgical hair replacement for a number of reasons.

In an image obsessed age with tv programmes like Channel 4’s “Ten Years Younger” having surgery can seem like an easy option. So it is only natural that for both men and women who are suffering hair loss that their first thought is of having surgical hair replacement.

There are however some important differences between most cosmetic surgery procedures and hair transplant surgery. For example with breast enlargement, if the patient isn’t happy with the size, shape or positioning of the breast implants they could have the surgery repeated with the existing implants removed and new ones implanted multiple times. This is not the case with hair transplant surgery.

The precious few permanent hairs you have (which can be counted in the thousands and sometimes only the hundreds) can be lost by being incorrectly implanted or may eventually have to be removed due to incorrect placement.

/Product Shots/Hair_Replacement_SurgreyThis limited number of permanent hairs means most people can only have one or two operations as this is all the donor hair they have. Therefore it cannot be emphasised strongly enough that if you are considering hair replacement surgery you should only place the few permanent hairs you have in the hands of a particularly competent hair transplant surgeon who has extensively trained in the latest surgical techniques and at one of the world’s leading medical schools.

Another important consideration is that any permanent hairs you have transplanted to your hairline at say 25 or 35 will still be growing there many years later when the rest of your hairline has further receded. What you don’t want to be left with is an island of hair above your forehead surrounded by a sea of bald skin!

This is why it makes particular sense for those in the very early stages of hair loss or those aged under 30 to have a non surgical hair replacement solution first, at least until their hair loss pattern has become clearer.

Surgical hair replacement works by essentially moving around the hairs on your head. In typical male pattern hair loss, hair is lost from the temples, top and crown. The remaining hair (at the back and sides of the head) is permanent hair which is not lost.

In a surgical solution a strip of hair (known as the strip method) is removed from the back of the head, cut into individual hair units and then implanted in the hairline and on the top of the head. In the hands of an averagely competent hair transplant surgeon you may be left with a scar up to a centimetre in height running along the back of your head or with FUE surgery hundreds or even thousands of smaller scars.

Non surgical hair replacement also appeals to those for whom the thought of going under the knife for hours of painful surgery and weeks of discomfort and unsightly swelling do not appeal. With non surgical hair replacement we can guarantee no downtime, no pain, no blood, no swelling, and no scarring. In other words we can help you get your hair back with no risk.

For the above reasons it makes a lot of sense to try a non surgical hair replacement solution rather than risking your precious supply of permanent hairs to a hair transplant surgeon who may only know the older and outdated (hair plug) techniques and who may leave you with visible permanent scarring
